We Need to Talk

Menschen im Dialog

About Postcolonialism, Sexual Identity, Relationships and Inclusion

Lecture Series of the Department of Philosophy

  • We need to talk about sex, gender, and sexual identity!
  • We need to talk about race and post-colonialism!
  • We need to talk about love, family, and the ethics of special relationships!
  • We need to talk about disability!

The lecture series is structured into four thematic blocks, each consisting of three sessions: an introductory session providing a general overview of the core questions and key perspectives of the respective debate, followed by two sessions presenting very different yet complementary positions. All sessions will be led by invited experts. The language of the lectures will be either German or English, depending on the speaker.

The lecture series examines perspectives from philosophy and related disciplines such as history, gender studies, psychology, and linguistics. It is interdisciplinary in nature and encourages a “broadening of horizons” in every possible way.

Program follows

This lecture series will start on 18 September 2025. We will publish the program here in good time.
